Context and Challenge
- Project Background and Description: Had 14 - 21 days to make a website where Vee could promote her message.
- The Problem: Vee had a tangible following on social media. People followed her for her positive and uplifting messages. However, with her following constantly growing at a fast pace, she was starting to feel that social media posts were not enough. She wanted a bigger outlet, and also wanted to give her fans a chance to share their stories as well.
- Project Goals and Objectives: Build awareness with a search engine-optimized website and to provide Vee with a bigger outlet to express her thoughts while also giving her followers a chance to express their thoughts and feelings as well.
Process and Insight
- Researched what colour scheme works best when trying to create a welcoming and comfortable environment.
- Made a blog section for Vee to express her thoughts, but also have some of her followers post once in a while for a featured post.
- Make a Q&A section / forum so visitors can engage with each other openly without the fear of judgement.
- Make pages search engine-optimized by including keywords and meta-data.
- Based on Vee's previous interactions with her followers, she came to the conclusion that her followers are very open and empathetic. That made us feel comfortable with including a forum section where people can be honest and vulnerable.
Solution
- Colour scheme of pink and white / light yellow to represent a welcoming and comfortable environment.
- Navigation: Light pink to represent a loving environment and at the top for easy navigation
- Home Hero: Includes a 'Quote of the Month'. Immediately, if you didn't know what this site was about, you get the idea that this site exists to inspire.
- Short Bio: Incase the visitor didn't know who Vee was, one of the first things they see is a brief introduction. It's important to know who is behind the content creation of the site, so I felt that, that should be one of the first things visitors see.
- Blog Section/Archives: Blogs, being the most prominent feature on the site, it was important to include a preview of this on the home page, for easier navigation.
- Content Strategy: To create content that informs, uplifts, and elevates peoples thinking.
Results
- There was no financial incentive with this project. However, we did measure the growth in visitors and subscribers.
